Where to Stay in Budapest
Budapest is divided by the Danube River into two distinct parts – Buda and Pest.
Buda lies on the hilly west bank, known for its historic landmarks such as Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion, and Gellért Hill. Staying here means breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for travelers who prefer a quieter, more romantic setting.
Pest, on the flat east side, is the vibrant heart of the city. Here you’ll find the Hungarian Parliament, St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Jewish Quarter with its famous ruin bars, and most of the nightlife, shops, and restaurants. Pest is ideal if you want to be in the center of the action. During our stay we chose Pest, because we wanted to be in the center of the action and we loved how easy it was to reach all the main sights.
